Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God protect him – the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is hosting the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group for the year 2024 AD and the golden jubilee of the bank, in the city of Riyadh during the period from April 27 to 30.
The bank’s annual meetings this year come under the slogan “Taking pride in our past and shaping our future: authenticity, solidarity and prosperity,” as this date marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the bank and its continuous work to achieve social and economic development among member states.
As the premier South-South multilateral development bank, the meetings and the Bank’s golden jubilee are expected to attract broad international and regional attention.
The meetings will include a series of side events in the presence of high-level experts from governments, international and regional organizations, the private sector, academia and civil society.
Ministers of economy, planning and finance from the Bank’s 57 member states will participate in this event, along with representatives of international and regional financial institutions, Islamic banks, private sector companies, national and international development finance institutions, international and regional organizations, non-governmental organizations, and chambers of commerce and industry. , and business councils. The meetings will provide an opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen economic relations between member states and maximize cooperation with participating financing institutions.
During the meetings, the Islamic Development Bank Group will also celebrate the Golden Jubilee to commemorate five decades of solid cooperation, solid partnerships and achieving the desired transformation, as this important journey for the Bank began 50 years ago in Riyadh with the inaugural meeting of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank, which was honored by the presence of His Highness Royal Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – Prince of Riyadh at that time-.
A number of forums, seminars and meetings will be held during this historic gathering, including the Governors’ Round Table, the 18th IDB Global Forum on Islamic Finance, the IDB Group Private Sector Forum 2024, the role of small and medium enterprises in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and charting the path. To enhance financing for sustainable development goals, benefit from Islamic finance to develop sustainable and flexible infrastructure, establish the Arab Coordination Group Forum, the Future Vision Symposium, and hold the General Assembly of the Union of Consultants in Islamic Countries.
