Vox accuses the PP of “invasion of powers” for promoting municipal employment policies with a gender perspective

The relationship between the Popular Party and Vox in the government of the city of Valencia is marked by disagreements, but since the beginning of March the escalation of tension has been increasing and the reproaches have continued. The modification of the articles of the Statutes of the Valncia Activa Foundation was the trigger. Vox, which has employment powers and, therefore, directs the foundation, and with the delegated vote of the PP, the change in the regulations meant the elimination of the plans aimed at women.
The mayor was then blunt about the position of her partners, ensuring that “whatever they do not want to do for Equality, the mayor will do.” This has translated into an agreement that negotiates the Councilor for Equality with the association Association of Young Entrepreneurs endowed with 15,000 euros to promote female leadership programs.
This has been interpreted by Vox, in the words of its spokesperson, Juanma Badenas, as “an invasion of powers” from the “progres” councilor of the PP.
“What we ask is that the agreement be respected by the PP and that the powers that were attributed to Vox be exercised by the Vox councilors. Since there was an agreement between gentlemen, the gentlemen and the ladies fulfill what we agreed to. The minimum political courtesy consists of that,” he explained.
This new tension comes just a week after Badenas and the other three Vox councilors left the municipal plenary session precisely when the PP responded to the opposition’s question about changing the statutes of Valencia Activa.
This is combined with the fact that, for the first time, the Valencia City Council did not make an institutional declaration on the occasion of the 8M due to the impossibility of the PP to agree with any other group on a common text and opted, from the Government Board, to adhere to that of the FVMP.
Catal’s partners have also caused the paralysis of matters such as urban sheets pending approval that include the planning that the Valencia CF will be able to develop in the new stadium and in the current Mestalla. Its processing has finished and all that is missing is its full approval, something that Vox announced that it would not do, so Catal does not have enough votes to move them forward.
