Vox requests that Illa appear in Parliament for the ‘Koldo case’

The Vox group in Parliament has registered this Monday a request for an appearance in the Catalan Chamber of the leader of the PSC and former Minister of Health at the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, Salvador Illabefore him Koldo case.

In the petition, Vox asks Illa to appear before the Parliament’s Health Commission “to explain the criteria in the awarding of contracts for the purchase of medical supplies during the time of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

This request comes after the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office has placed Koldo Garciathe former advisor to the former Minister of Transport, Jos Luis Balos (PSOE), as the person they used to “expedite” procedures with the Ministry in contracting during the pandemic for the sale of masks, a fact that, as a consequence, has led the PSOE Executive to demand that Balos deliver your certificate as a PSOE deputy in 24 hours.

Vox’s objective is to expand the internal fronts in the PSOE due to the Koldo case. The party, which appeared in the case this Monday, proposes putting the focus on other prominent actors in national politics who had contact with the plot, as is the case of Illa, but also the president of Congress, Francina Armengol, in her previous stage as Balearic president.

Political responsibilities

In fact, within Vox they consider that Ferraz has fallen short in demanding “political responsibilities” due to his close relationship with his former advisor and they believe that the PSOE should extend these demands to other figures, such as Armengol or even the president of the Government and socialist leader, Pedro Sánchez.

As EL MUNDO published this Monday, the Government chaired by Armengol paid almost four million euros in April 2020 to the Koldo plot for the purchase of a million and a half ‘fake’ masks through “verbal contact”, without following the open contracting process and also without analyzing product samples before contracting. What’s more, the file was ‘fabricated’ four days after this verbal agreement. More than enough reasons, they believe in Vox – and in the PP, which presides over the current Balearic Government and has already announced its appearance in the case – to put the magnifying glass on the management of Armengol, today the third authority of the State when presiding over the Congress of the Deputies.

“We have to go to the end,” remarked the general secretary of Vox, Ignacio Garriga, who considered “insulting” the approach with which the PSOE, through shooting, seeks to close the internal wound suffered by the party. for this case and put an end to the controversy without clarifying the necessary responsibilities. “Demanding the resignation of balos is an interlude,” lamented the number two of Vox about a decision “that does not change the seriousness at all” of the matter affecting the PSOE.

“The PSOE has crime in its DNA,” said Garriga, who has announced part of the offensive that Vox has deployed to shed light on this matter: promoting investigative commissions in the parliaments of the regions in which contracts were signed with this plot and focus part of its actions on specifying the role of figures like Illa or Armengol in this matter.
