After the prosecutor’s inspection, Wildberries changed about 20 rules governing the relationship between sellers, buyers and the marketplace. The reason for the inspection was the introduction by Wildberries of a commission of 3% when paying for goods with bank cards of the international payment systems Visa and Mastercard. In addition to the cancellation of this decision, as a result of the actions of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the buyer is now not obliged to check the quality of the goods upon receipt and has the right to refuse the purchased products. The time frame for considering claims for replacement of goods has also been reduced, and an increase in delivery time can only occur by agreement with the customer. At the same time, in some cases, the buyer will remain obligated to pay the costs associated with returning goods of inadequate quality. The client will have to pay if there is a significant transportation distance, a low share of redemption by the buyer, as well as when purchasing “large, fragile, unclaimed by the population and often replaced by unscrupulous customers at the points of delivery of goods,” says a message posted on the telegram channel of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

“The introduction of a commission when paying with Visa and Mastercard cards obviously contradicted the federal law on the protection of consumer rights,” says Sergei Nikonov. — Which directly prohibits setting different prices for one type of product, work, or service depending on the method of payment. The supervisory agency could not help but react. Apparently, during the audit, the auditors identified less obvious violations, which was reflected in Wildberries changing its internal regulations.”

The rules have been adjusted in accordance with federal legislation, “from which the consumer will only benefit; Wildberries will become ‘closer to the people,’” the expert concluded.
