Zelenskyy spoke with Sholtz: Ukraine will also receive missiles for air defense systems

President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, after Germany’s decision to urgently transfer one Patriot air defense system to Ukraine, called on other leaders of Ukraine’s partner states to follow this example.

Details: The President announced that he had a “productive” conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

He thanked the chancellor for the decision to supply another additional Patriot system to Ukraine and missiles to the existing air defense systems.

“Thank you, Olaf, for your leadership! This is a true manifestation of support for Ukraine at a critical time for us,” Zelenskyi said.

He also called on all other leaders of Ukraine’s partner states to follow this example.

According to a message on the website of the President’s Office, Zelenskyi also told Sholts about the current situation in Ukrainian energy, especially in the Kharkiv region, in other affected regions, as well as about the operational situation on the front line and the current needs of the Defense Forces.

In addition, he thanked the chancellor for supporting the Czech initiative to find artillery shells for Ukraine and emphasized that its effectiveness directly depends on its timely implementation.

The interlocutors discussed the preparation for the conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine, which will be held in Germany in the summer, and the organization of the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland, the report says.

“Efforts designed to ensure the widest possible participation of the countries of the Global South have been coordinated,” the Office noted.

What preceded: Earlier, Germany announced the urgent transfer of one Patriot anti-aircraft missile complex to Ukraine.

The day before, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, said that “active negotiations” are underway with allies regarding the acquisition of two batteries of the Patriot air defense system and one – SAMP/T.

Before that, Kuleba called on the head of the French Foreign Ministry to take immediate action to supply air defense to Ukraine and stated that Ukraine would not have lost the Trypil TPP if it had enough Patriots.
