This Monday, the Department of Education of the Canary Islands Government conveyed to the teaching unions its intention to publish before the end of April the provisional ranking of the contest of merits of the extraordinary stabilization process, for which 3,948 places are offered of teachers in public education on the islands.
The General Directorate of Personnel has informed the union organizations that represent the Canary Islands teachers that They have not yet closed the complex process in which more than 700,000 documents from 28,000 applications have been evaluated and “although it already has a good part of the data, it still has some issues to close,” as ANPE highlights on its website.
In addition, the general director of Personnel, Mónica Ramírez, reported that work is underway on a specific computer application for claims once the provisional list is published, “in order to prevent applicants from having to provide merits that are already in the power of the Administration as well as to improve the fluidity of the system and prevent collapses,” adds the teaching union.
The STEC also reports on its website about the meeting and reiterates “its position, already known, of precautionary suspension of the procedure in view of the ruling of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) on labor personnel, of February 22, 2024 , but everything indicates that it must also rule on the teaching staff, so the issue is prejudicial.
The Ministry has already said that the intention is to maintain the roadmap to resolve the extraordinary stabilization process before December 31 for “prudence and responsibility”, complying in principle with what is established in the law to reduce temporary employment in public administrations.
ANPE, for its part, demands that “an alternative be sought for interim staff with some teaching experience in public centers in the archipelago.” who does not get a place through stabilizationin order for them to continue working through destination awards once the processes are resolved.
In addition to the 3,948 teaching positions that will be granted in the Canary Islands through a merit-based competition, the stabilization process contemplates the offer of another 1,145 through extraordinary competitive examinations that will be held in the majority of specialties on June 22 and 23. More than 300 courts will be established.
