Electricity bills for April reduced by Rs 3.82 paise per unit, Energy Minister

Federal Energy Minister Sardar Owais Khan Laghari has said that April electricity bills decreased by Rs 3.82 paise per unit, this overall decrease was due to quarterly and fuel price adjustments in dollar terms.
In his statement, the Federal Minister said that the fuel price adjustment on the current month’s bills has been reduced from Rs. 7.6 paisa per unit to Rs. 4.92 paisa.
Sardar Owais Laghari said that the first quarter adjustment was Rs 4 43 paisa which has been reduced to Rs 2 75 paisa. Electricity bills reduced by 1 rupee 68 paise.
The Energy Minister also said that electricity bills will be reduced this month as compared to the previous month.
Owais Leghari said that Nepra determines the ‘reference tariff’ for the entire year at the beginning of each year, the fuel price adjustment determines the cost of power generation in a month.
The energy minister said that when the price of fuel drops compared to the fixed price of Nepra, the price for the consumers comes down.
He said that the difference between the actual price of fuel and the fixed price of fuel is charged when the price is overcharged by Nepra tariff, not collecting this difference increases the country’s deficit.
The energy minister said that Nepra determines the fuel price adjustment for every month, if the price exceeds the Nepra tariff, the difference between the actual fuel price and the fixed fuel price is charged.
Sardar Owais Leghari said that non-receipt of this difference increases the country’s deficit, NEPRA determines the fuel price adjustment for every month.
The federal minister said that the price of fuel has decreased by 2 rupees 14 paise.
