The detected drones “were small, most likely of a commercial type and flew at low speeds and at a low altitude.”
Literally: “According to the procedures, all measures were taken to ensure the safety of the airspace, and the civil air traffic control authorities were promptly informed about the situation.”
More details: Romanian Defense Ministry spokesman Konstantin Spinu clarified to Radio Liberty that the drones were silenced so that they did not pose a danger to the military facility.
In connection with the incident, the command of the 57th airbase contacted the Military Prosecutor’s Office, and the military unit initiated an official inspection.
We will remind:
- Several incidents of drones falling on Romanian territory have already been recorded while Russia is attacking Ukrainian ports on the Danube.
- NATO and Romanian officials have said after similar incidents in the past that they have found no evidence of any deliberate attack targeting Romania.
