Marine drones – how mom and baby work — UNIAN

The representative of the Security Service of Ukraine, Artem Dekhtyarenko, spoke on the air of the telethon about the results of the use of marine drones, technical characteristics and the new generation of attack drones.

Yes, SBU drones have already hit 11 Russian ships, as well as the Crimean bridge. The first successful use of naval drone prototypes took place in October 2022. “Then four military ships of the Russian Federation were damaged in the Sevastopol Bay, among them were the missile carriers Admiral Essen and Admiral Makarov. That is, these are the ships that fire missiles at the territory of our state,” he said.

Further, the SBU replenished its piggy bank of targets. “And here we are not only talking about ships, but also about the defeat of the Crimean bridge. It can be said that almost a year and a half after the first use of drones in the Sevastopol Bay, the SBU achieved its goals. Namely, it reduced the enemy’s military capabilities at sea and unblocked Ukrainian trade routes in the Black Sea, in particular, the “grain corridor”, – emphasized Dekhtyarenko.

Marine drones are a Ukrainian development, at that time there was no alternative in the whole world. “Existing Western drones were too large and not maneuverable, they could easily be detected by enemy radars. In addition, Western drones did not have a combat unit, because they were used mainly for logistical purposes or for reconnaissance,” he noted.

It is noted that marine drones are invisible to both underwater acoustics and surface radars. “The drone had to work in the noise range at the border of two media – water and air, precisely because of its small size and structural features, hydroacoustics cannot hear it from below, and radar stations do not notice it from above. Moreover, the body of this drone is made of radio-absorbing material This concept fully confirmed its invisibility and striking power during special operations conducted by the SBU together with the Navy. That is, such drones can only be seen visually, not on surveillance systems,” he explained.

Today, the SBU uses two types of drones – Sea Baby (“Sea Baby”) and “Mamay”, a team of SBU specialists works together with the Ukrainian Navy and other security and defense forces to improve them.

“For example, the Sea Baby of 2024 is a new generation of drones that are considered even more deadly. It differs from the previous model both in appearance and tactical and technical characteristics. Among other things, the new Sea Baby drone is capable of delivering almost a ton of explosives to more than a thousand kilometers. And this means that the SBU can reach an enemy target at any point of the Black Sea,” Dekhtyarenko emphasized.

Now the new “Sea Baby” is undergoing a full cycle of tests, the SBU is adapting the newest onboard weapons and working out all possible technical nuances, he added.

“The maritime drones of the SBU have already shown that Russia is not a maritime state, but a state that is going to the bottom. As a general announcement, I can say that after the victory, thanks to the SBU and our brothers from the Defense Forces, the Black Sea will become a popular place for diving “I think there will be many people who want to look at the Russian scrap metal at the bottom of our Ukrainian sea. We are working on it,” Dekhtyarenko emphasized.

Attacks on the occupiers in Crimea: what is known

Earlier, The Sun wrote that Ukraine has approximately 100 days to carry out a decisive attack on the Crimean bridge. According to Western experts, this can be done with the help of certain weapons.

Earlier, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Malyuk, promised repeated attacks on the Crimean bridge, noting that Ukraine has the potential for its complete destruction.

As a reminder, in July 2023, during the first attack on the Crimean bridge, two Ukrainian Sea Baby drones swam to the target and destroyed it.
