Su-57 – how many planes are there in the Russian army and how many missiles can it carry X-59 – characteristics

Information about the actual composition of the Su-57 armament remains inaccurate. In the internal armed compartment, there can probably be four to six air-to-air medium-range missiles. Two additional armed compartments are located under the wings of the fighter. There are still no images or videos of weapons from these compartments. The plane also has 6 external suspension units for ammunition.

To equip the Su-57, ammunition was used in warehouses located at the airfield “Akhtubinsk-Vladimirovka” in the Astrakhan region. Soviet-made Kh-59 air-to-ground missiles capable of destroying targets at a distance of up to 300 km were stored there. There are no new high-precision impression methods for use with the Su-57.

The Su-57 is a fifth-generation Russian fighter, developed by the Russian aircraft company UAK. It is equipped with a fundamentally new complex of avionics with the “electronic pilot” function.

Briefly about the declared characteristics of the Su-57:

– declared maximum speed and flight range – up to 2,600 km/h and 3,500 km, respectively.

The military noted that this is not the first use of the X-69 to attack Ukraine. The first mention of their use appeared in February 2024, although there were rare cases as early as 2023. The Kh-69 is a subsonic cruise missile for tactical aircraft, which the enemy can use with the Su-34 and Su-35, it should also become the main cruise missile for the Su-57, which it must carry in the internal weapons compartments.
