Chandigarh. Reiterating his firm commitment to harness the immense power of the youth in a constructive direction, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday handed over appointment letters to 219 clerks and 26 youth for compassionate appointment. With this, the total number of youths who have secured government jobs so far has gone up to 27,042.
On the occasion of handing over the appointment letters at the Municipal Bhavan here, the Chief Minister said that an empty mind is the abode of the devil. That’s why we are trying to give jobs to more and more youth, so that they stay away from social evils. Unemployment is the root of many social problems. That’s why the attention of the state government is focused on ending it. So far, 27,042 government jobs have been given to the youth within a year of assuming office. This campaign will continue in the coming days also as the state government is laying maximum emphasis on creating employment opportunities for the youth.
The Chief Minister said that this municipal building has become a witness to such functions, in which the youth were given appointment letters for recruitment in different departments. This reflects the commitment of the state government that it is striving for the welfare of the youth and creating new employment opportunities for them. It is a matter of great pride that all the youth have been selected for these posts on the basis of merit. The Chief Minister said that now these youth have become an integral part of the government and now they should serve the people with missionary zeal. The newly recruited youth should use their pen to help the downtrodden sections of the society and the needy.
Allaying the concerns of education service providers, he said that the state government would soon issue a notification to increase their salaries by ending the system of contractual recruitment. He said that the Punjab government is committed for the welfare of every section of the society. No stone will be left unturned in this noble cause.

Citing the example of Ambedkar, the Chief Minister said that the youth should take inspiration from the achievements made by this great national hero and achieve success in every field. Despite many difficulties, the framer of the constitution got education and touched heights in life. Every youth must take inspiration from the life and philosophy of this great leader to achieve success in his life.
The Chief Minister said that as the airstrip is helpful for the comfortable flight of the aeroplane. Similarly, the state government will be helpful to fulfill the dreams of the youth. He claimed that every possible effort would be made to give flight to the ideas of the youth. He invited the youth to stick to the ground instead of parachute. It is said that a person connected to the ground can rise from the ground and conquer the sky and the sky is the limit for these hardworking people. On the contrary, parachuters come from the sky and they have to fall on the ground sometime or the other.
The Chief Minister further said that he asked the officers, especially the Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police, to interact with the people by conducting more and more field visits, especially to villages. He said that it was the need of the hour to ensure better governance for the people while helping them to get their daily chores done easily. This will help in improving the working of the offices along with being aware of the ground realities.
The Chief Minister regretted that some people were trying to divide the state on religious lines to fulfill their selfish interests. He said that such self-styled religious leaders have nothing to do with the state and its people. He said that these leaders only want to disturb the peace and tranquility of the state. Punjabis should not be bothered by the views of such preachers who have no emotional connection with the state and its people. The State Government is bound to maintain peace, harmony and mutual brotherhood in Punjab at all costs.
He said that today is the era of education and people with knowledge and expertise have a different identity across the world. Due to which the state government is constantly making efforts to make education flourish in Punjab. He wants to see books, laptops, jobs, progress and medals in the hands of the youth.
