It is suspected that it may be an adjustment between Chinese gangs: there are three detainees
The special intervention group of the Mossos d’Esquadra has frustrated this Friday an attempted kidnapping with hostages in Barcelona, in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi neighborhood. The Catalan Police has deployed an extensive police operation, with which it has freed three people, who were being held by a group of Asian citizens, who were carrying firearms. There are two detainees. It is suspected, according to the first indications, of an adjustment between Chinese gangs. The Catalan Police has concluded the operation.
The residents of the property have heard three detonations. These are stun grenades used by the agents in the operation to break into the floor where the hostages were being held. The operation was directed in person and from the field by the chief commissioner of the Mossos, Eduard Salllent, accompanied by the Councilor for Security of the Barcelona City Council, Albert Batlle.
The police operation ended at around 8:15 p.m. and the kidnapping lasted for an hour. Initially, the Mossos have tried to contact the kidnappers to negotiate, but seeing that it was not possible because they asked for a ransom of more than 300,000 euros, they have broken into the apartment. Agents have taken control of the property. There have been no injuries.
