The Government approves 160 million for equality policies after the murder of seven minors in 2024

The extraordinary meeting, which took place in Moncloa after the Councils of Ministers, and which Redondo has described as “historic”, was chaired for the first time by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and was also attended by the Vice Presidents, María Jesús Montero and Yolanda Díaz; the Minister of Justice, Flix Bolaos; that of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska; and the Minister of Youth and Children, Sira Rego, as well as representatives of the autonomous communities. The Minister of Equality has explained that the 160 million approved will be divided into two agreements. The first of them, in charge of the Special Delegation of the Government against the Violence on Women, will have an endowment of 19.8 million euros distributed as follows: 4.2 million for programs and services that guarantee social assistance to victims; 4.2 million for care programs for minor victims of gender violence; one million to improve the coordination of gender violence units, 9.5 million to support victims of sexual assault and 800,000 euros for the development of sexual abuse prevention programs for minors supervised by the autonomous administrations.

The second of the agreements, with an amount of 140 million euroswill be intended to develop or reinforce the measures incorporated in the Pact against Gender Violence, agreed upon in 2017, as explained by Redondo, who has announced that the president has committed to convening at least two meetings of the Observatory a year.

“We are facing a really complex problem, a historical and atvic problemor, but that Spanish society has been working for 20 years and making progress in eradicating this gender violence and now vicarious violence,” the minister said.
